The Eisenberg DAC wine region is the youngest DAC region in Austria. Until recently, the region was part of Southern Burgenland, but is now independent due to its unique terroir. Here, the Groszer Wein winery produces unusual, characterful red wines. The small company is particularly dedicated to Blaufränkisch. No wonder, since it finds optimal conditions here around the eponymous Eisenberg. Especially on the steep slopes of the Eisenberg, the Blaufränkisch develops a distinctive minerality. This is primarily due to the soil composition. Here, the vines are rooted in soil with a particularly high iron concentration and many other mineral deposits. This gives the resulting wine a vibrant minerality. Another special feature is the prevailing climate. Here, the nights are very cool by Austrian standards and warm days, with more than 300 days of sunshine per year. This ensures fruity ripeness and elegant acidity in the resulting wine. Particularly authentic and region-specific Blaufränkisch wines from the Eisenberg are therefore even classified as Eisenberg DAC. The Groszer Wein winery offers a variety of Blaufränkisch varieties from the region's absolute top locations. These are prime examples of the red wine affectionately known by locals as "Eisenberger." The Groszer Wein winery presents the entire spectrum of the region's diverse Blaufränkisch varieties. A special highlight is the Groszer Wein Eisenberg DAC Reserve presented here. This is aged for two years in oak barrels.
